Hello,
this is Liesbeth writing now. So on thursday evening we said goodbye to our college students and we took a taxi to the airport. We had to wait there for 4 hours and killed the time by playing cards, hanging around and all kinds of stuff. Our airplane left 30 minutes late. In the airplane we had the chance to sit pretty close together so that was nice. We had a good flight with a little turbulence.
At the airport the lovely Steve Sullivan and Yan Nicholls came to pick us up. It was so great to see them back. (They were speakers in our lecture phase). They brought us to the YWAM base in Harpenden. They gave us a very nice place to sleep. In the morning after enjoying a nice hot shower (we did not have to turn it of every time like on the shipshowers) we had a nice breakfast and some cool conversations with people on the base. That morning we were also invited at the house of Steve to come and drink a cup of coffee. We have met his family. It was so great.
At 11 o`clock Tamara and Chelanna had to take the train to Derby. Matt, Daniel and I had a ride with Yan at 4 pm. So we had some more time to explore the oval. They have an awesome wood on their domain! We had also the chance to play in the documentary that they were making about YWAM and the next wave. Probably it will be broad-casted somewhere half july. It was also cool to see Anne and Brian back!
At 4 pm Yan, Colin and Ashley (I am not very sure about here name) took us to Derby. (By the way the sun of Yan looks soooooo hard on Yan, it is like you see Yan when he was little. He was so cute!) We arrived just on time and Linda was waiting on us at the church New Life.
From there people took as to our hostels. Chelanna and I are living with a very nice family: Bill and Mary. They have 3 children. We have separate rooms, access to internet,... We are so blessed with this family. Mary also invited us to come to swim with here 3 times a week early in the morning.
Saturday morning our outreach group met back again at the church. Today it was planned to have a lunch with the people of Normington to bless them. So we went out to the streets and handed out invitations to come to the lunch. My partner for that was Paulette. She is a lovely woman who has partially Jamaican blood. It was really nice talking to here.
We had some really good conversations and it was great how to see that God pushed us out of our comfort zones to get a little further.
After some hours of rest we prepared a supper together with Linda and had a delicious meal. After that is was time to go and join the youth meeting of that evening.
And today we are sunday. This morning we went to the morning service in the new life church where we had to present ourselves in front of the church.
I am really looking forward what is going to happen the next days but don`t worry, we will let you know!
Big hug
Liesbeth
We may fly off the day after tomorrow, but the adventure began at 8 am this morning. Our beloved leaders left envelopes with treasure hunt clues. Then Simon came along and tied the three of us students together at the wrists with ropes of mismatched lengths. They instructed us to remain that way for an `unspecified` amount of time. That meant anything we wanted to do, we had to do together, including using the toilet - with an exception made for public ones. So we cavorted around Lisbon looking like escaped convicts. Great fun!
We had even more fun trying to complete our work duties - clean the kitchen, clean up after lunch, and clean up after dinner. We were released after we had finished cleaning up after dinner. By 7pm I was ready to kill something, and most unfortunately for my team members, that meant whichever team member was closest to the arm attached to the longer rope.
Well, I´m off to wish Simon farewell. Hopefully we´ll be able to update again soon, but we have no idea what internet access will be like in Derby.
